Welcome to CVAS!

CVAS is a “no-kill shelter” that has been in operation for over nine years. We are a volunteer-driven organization and rely on donations to continue helping our animals. All donation proceeds go directly to supporting the services we provide that keep our animals safe, cared for and in loving homes.

The current shelter is very rustic and is badly in need of repairs.  The sole heat source is wood, requiring constant attention in frigid weather to ensure that all of our charges stay warm and comfortable. We have big dreams and goals for our Sanctuary but we need the support of the community, interested individuals, businesses and organizations to make those dreams come true.

There are no county-supported shelters in Stevens County. We are the only safety net for the many hundreds of animals that become homeless each year.

We'd Like to Say....

The volunteers and the animals here are CVAS would like to send out a big Thank You to all of you who responded so quickly and so generously in response to our devastating fire!
It took us awhile to recover from the shock, but we were also overwhelmed by the outpouring of sympathy and compassion from the community as well as our online friends.
Thank you so much!

We hope to begin the rebuild very soon, we're just waiting for the weather to co-operate!

We'll keep you posted as we make progress.

Featured Dog: Scarlet

Meet Scarlet!

This beautiful girl is Scarlet! She's about 2 years old now and we think she is possibly a Rhodesian Ridgeback/ Mastiff mix. Scarlet came to us several months ago complete with a litter of 5 puppies! She was a very loving and attentive mother and we had no trouble finding homes for all of her pups. After her pups were weaned Scarlett was spayed and given all of her vaccines, this was in May of 2011.

Scarlet is a very loving friendly girl, she is also extremely strong and energetic and will fit best in an active energetic family. She is no couch potato!

We do not know much about her background, we have no idea how much, if any, house training she received. She needs someone who is willing to do a bit of training and spend a bit of time and TLC on her. With a little bit of work she will make a really wonderful companion!

Scarlet loves attention and activity. If she had a home with a yard that she could run and play in, she would soon settle in.

Scarlet is more than ready to leave the Sanctuary and find her place within a loving family. A family who will give her her very own forever home... Could you be that special family? Come and visit Scarlet and find out, she is waiting for you!
